GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Quality & Sourcing Engineer supports Quality, Sourcing, and Manufacturing operations through technical problem‑solving and continuous improvement. This role manages supplier quality, qualifies new vendors, and improves product manufacturability. The position requires initiative, consistency, and strong follow‑through, as well as the ability to balance technical precision with business judgment.
The role also involves occasional field repair support, including travel to customer sites, and hands‑on product validation within the test lab as needed. The ideal candidate thrives on accountability, communicates clearly, and can influence outcomes across teams.
- Provide technical and quality support to Manufacturing, Sourcing, and Engineering teams.
- Reverse‑engineer existing products and create supporting drawings or documentation for improvement and dual sourcing.
- Partner with suppliers to establish, audit, and improve quality standards and inspection methods.
- Evaluate prototypes and samples for dimensional, functional, and aesthetic performance.
- Lead or support root cause analysis and corrective actions for supplier or customer issues, including occasional on‑site field repair.
- Conduct or support test lab validation, functional testing, and product evaluations to verify performance and durability.
- Support supplier qualifications, product color matching, and production approvals.
- Develop work instructions, rework procedures, and field replacement guides to support continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, Client Success, and Purchasing to align efforts and resolve quality issues quickly.
- Support problem‑solving and decision‑making that balances technical accuracy with business priorities.
- All other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred (or equivalent in Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering)
- Minimum 2‑5 years of experience in manufacturing, supplier quality, or product engineering.
- Experience working in a fast‑paced, hands‑on environment with multiple stakeholders.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Solid Works (3D modeling and 2D drawings).
- Strong understanding of manufacturing methods, inspection techniques, and product validation.
- Analytical mindset with strong problem‑solving and troubleshooting ability.
- Demonstrated initiative, consistency, and ownership of assigned projects.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to clearly document and present findings.
- Leadership potential; ability to coordinate efforts, influence outcomes, and drive accountability with suppliers and peers.
- Hands‑on capability to inspect and evaluate parts; proficiency with calipers, gauges, and test equipment.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain attention to detail under pressure.
- Willingness to travel occasionally to support field repair, supplier visits, or product validations as needed.
- Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance.
