Job Description
Position Summary:The Patient Transporter is responsible for transporting patients, medical records, specimens, and other items within the hospital to ensure the smooth flow of care. The role requires adherence to safety protocols, excellent communication skills, and the ability to handle patients and equipment safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:Patient Transport: Safely transport patients to and from hospital service areas, patient rooms, and medical departments.
Customer Service: Anticipate and respond to patient and staff needs in a courteous and timely manner.
Equipment Handling: Operate and move medical equipment, beds, stretchers, and other necessary tools as required.
Safety & Technique: Safely move patients using proper techniques, considering their medical status and condition.
Communication: Inform the requesting personnel about any delays, cancellations, or changes in transportation mode.
Compliance: Follow all hospital policies and safety guidelines, including blood and body fluid precautions, hazardous waste handling, and exposure control protocols.
Emergency Support: Provide basic emergency assistance if a patient becomes ill during transport until additional medical support arrives.
Other Duties: Perform additional tasks as assigned by management to ensure smooth patient transport operations.
Minimum Qualifications:Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
Physical Requirements: Ability to frequently lift, carry, push, and pull items over 50 lbs.
Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal).
Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
Flexibility: Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Safety: Knowledge of safety procedures and ability to follow protocols to ensure patient and staff safety.
Supervisory Responsibilities:This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
