POSITION SUMMARY

This role performs duties at the professional level in many of the HR department’s functional areas. The primary immediate objectives for this position include the complete recruitment process for both salaried and hourly positions, conducting the orientation process, and enforcing company policies and practices. You’ll be essential in overseeing the entire recruitment process for a variety of positions. As a trusted advisor, you’ll work closely with hiring managers and candidates to ensure smooth and engaging hiring experience.

This role will involve creative recruiting, planning and outreach efforts. The HR Generalist must be sensitive to company needs, partner goodwill, and business needs. This partner conducts themselves in a manner that is aligned with Illes Foods Core Values:

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Full Cycle Recruiting.
    • Consulting with management to identify/scope recruitment needs through job requisitions to develop effective sourcing strategies with the hiring manager.
    • Sourcing, screening, and interviewing qualified candidates for open positions, collaborating, and building positive relationships with hiring managers to understand the skills and competencies required for openings.
    • Seeks to learn about the roles being recruited for and can go on the production floor, labs, etc. to develop relationships while learning about the positions we hire for.
    • Partners with leaders to ensure job descriptions are up to date.
    • Work within the Applicant Tracking System to enable streamlined and automated processes.
    • Research candidates via online platforms, inviting them to apply when appropriate.
    • Scheduling onsite and offsite interviews with Illes partners.
    • Improve and refine interview processes to align with our Core Values.
    • Communicate recruiting statuses to department managers and executives.
    • Assists in the development of short and long-term recruitment strategies for continuous improvement.
    • Manages “career” calendar and responds to all recruiting-related inquiries.
  • Onboarding.
    • Conducts or acquires background checks, employee eligibility verifications, candidate assessments, and occupational pre-employment testing.
    • Reconcile invoices for pre-employment testing.
    • Conducts new hire orientation, completes the paperwork, and coordinates with partners to ensure all new hire objectives are completed.
    • Create or better define the “Illes Buddies” program (or similar), equipping mentor partners and fostering a great onboarding experience for new hires.
    • Foster long‑term positive relationships with past applicants and potential candidates.
  • HR Generalist.
    • Handle employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and management, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
    • Assist with Employee Engagement by taking the lead on the REC team. Organize partners for staff meetings, providing meeting preparation and coordination.
    • Utilize Microsoft SharePoint skills to update the HR intranet when requested.
    • Assist in preparing HR reports, metrics, and other documents as management requires.
    • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations and recommends best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
    • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
    • Maintains appropriate and professional written and verbal communication.
    • Ensures that food safety, legality, integrity, and quality standards are always maintained.
    • Completes annual and quarterly training as assigned.
    • Regular attendance for scheduled shifts is a requirement for this position.
    • Perform other tasks assigned by Management.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION

EXPERIENCE:

An associate degree and/or experience in human resources and recruiting are desired. Bachelor’s degree preferred. HR certification is a plus.
