Volunteers are at the heart of our mission—bringing comfort, dignity, and compassion to those we serve. We are seeking a dedicated Volunteer Coordinator to help grow and lead our volunteer program.

Position Summary

The Volunteer Coordinator plays a vital role in recruiting, training, and supporting hospice volunteers who provide companionship, support, and comfort to patients and their families. This is an unpaid volunteer position
, ideal for someone passionate about service, with strong organizational skills and a heart for hospice care.

Responsibilities
  • Recruit, screen, and train new volunteers in alignment with hospice policies and regulations.
  • Coordinate volunteer schedules to ensure coverage for patient and family needs.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of volunteer hours, activities, and compliance requirements.
  • Provide ongoing support, encouragement, and recognition to hospice volunteers.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary hospice team to match volunteers with appropriate assignments.
  • Develop creative ways to engage and retain volunteers.
  • Ensure compliance with state, federal, and hospice accreditation standards.
Qualifications
  • Prior volunteer management or leadership experience preferred (but not required).
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Compassionate, dependable, and able to work with sensitivity in end‑of‑life care settings.
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, spreadsheets, email).
  • Ability to commit to a flexible schedule of 10 to 15 hours per week (in‑office and/or remote support).
