Job Title: Quality Engineer
Department: Quality
Reports To: Quality Manager

Position Summary

The Quality Engineer is responsible for execution and ownership of day-to-day quality control processes across the production environment, ensuring product integrity, compliance, and readiness for shipment. This role oversees incoming inspection, in-process and final release inspection, and calibration management, while supporting continuous improvement and documentation control in alignment with ISO 9001:2015 and Liquid Stack’s internal quality standards. The Quality Engineer works cross-functionally with Production, Engineering, R&D, and Supply Chain to support scaling operations, maintain operational control, and drive process improvements that ensure consistent product quality in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Ownership Areas

  • Conduct and document incoming inspections, including defect tracking, supplier escalation, and support in supplier corrective actions.
  • Lead final QC inspection and release of CDU systems prior to shipment, ensuring all checklist items, labeling, packaging, and documentation meet quality standards.
  • Manage the calibration system for inspection and test equipment, ensuring traceability, accurate records, and current calibration status.
  • Serve as the primary responsible person for implementing, updating, and maintaining quality procedures and process controls for assigned product and process areas.
  • Ensure operational control and compliance to internal standards and ISO 9001:2015 requirements, supporting continuous improvement across the production floor.

Support Areas

  • Contribute to quality metrics reporting, including data gathering, dashboard development, trend analysis, and performance reporting.
  • Support internal audits, external audits, and customer audits through documentation readiness, QMS support, and corrective action follow-through.
  • Assist in training production staff and new hires on inspection procedures, process controls, documentation requirements, and quality standards.
Additional Responsibilites
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) efforts to resolve nonconformances and drive sustained improvements.
  • Develop, improve, and maintain inspection and testing methods, quality standards, work instructions, and checklists.
  • Collaborate with Engineering on product changes, assembly validation, and new product introduction (NPI) to ensure quality requirements are defined, communicated, and verified.
  • Participate in supplier quality activities, including supplier qualification, monitoring, and corrective action follow-up.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, inspection records, and calibration logs in accordance with QMS requirements.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or Quality Engineering or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • 3+ years of quality engineering or quality control experience in a manufacturing or assembly environment.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 and familiarity with quality management systems.
  • Proficiency in root cause analysis and problem-solving methodologies (5 Why, 8D, Fishbone, DMAIC, etc.).
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, assembly documentation, wiring diagrams, and mechanical schematics.
  • Strong data analysis skills, including use of Excel, Minitab, or equivalent tools.
  • Hands-On & Practical: Comfortable working directly on the production floor and engaging operators, technicians, and engineers.
  • Continuous Improvement Mindset: Looks for root causes, not symptoms; drives solutions, not just documentation.
  • Attention to Detail: Maintains rigorous standards in review, documentation, and inspection.
  • Ownership & Accountability: Takes responsibility for assigned quality processes and follows through to closure.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Works well across teams with clarity, professionalism, and consistency
  • Combination of manufacturing floor and office environment.
  • Must follow all plant safety requirements and use PPE where required.
  • May require occasional lifting up to 25 lbs and standing/walking for portions of the workday.
