Convergint is looking for a full-time, enthusiastic, results driven and forward-thinking Fire Alarm Technician to join our amazing culture. In this role, you will install, program, perform system start-up/check-out, testing/commissioning, customer training and all associated documentation on assigned projects including more complex projects. WhatYou’ll Do
- Installs, programs, tests, repairs, and services a variety of systems and equipment which may include security, fire alarm & life safety, and/or building automation with guidance as needed.
- Act as the colleague interface for the provision of technical support and training for the customer and be accountable for maximizing customer satisfaction. Refers more complex issues to higher level colleagues.
- Use blueprints, schematics, manuals, and other specifications to determine installation procedures; may require assistance with more complex specifications.
- Interpret manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams, and repair equipment using knowledge of electronics and standard test instruments and hand tools.
- Understand building, mechanical, sprinkler and fire codes.
- Coach and mentor less experienced colleagues.
- Operate systems to demonstrate equipment, commission new systems, analyze performance and identify malfunctions. Write routine programs for systems.
- Maintain focus on customer satisfaction and be the customer’s best service provider.
- Consult with engineering personnel to resolve unusual problems in system operation, maintenance, and warranty work.
- Advise management regarding customer satisfaction, product performance, installation techniques and standards as well as suggestions for product improvements.
- Execute technical aspects of multiple projects with varying timelines and budgets including programming, graphics development, start-up, certification testing, customer training, close-out documentation, and ongoing technical support.
- Identify potential project risks, communicate to appropriate parties and assist in strategies to minimize impact and control deviations from estimated costs and deadlines.
- Work with Fire Alarm Designer to ensure fire alarm system meets all relevant codes and standards.
- Coordinate with Project Manager and/or Operations Manager; contribute to quality improvement and potential changes in scope to improve customer satisfaction.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as requested or required.
- Exceptional customer focus and ability to work under pressure; maintain awareness of and meet customer needs and wants.
- Ability to convey complex subject matter to a non-technical audience.
- Willingness to learn technical skills related to fire alarm systems and/or electronic security systems.
- Self-starter with ability to work with little supervision.
- Understanding of electronics including Ohm’s law, resistor color code, and relay logic for control of third-party equipment.
