The Therapist provides confidential, trauma-informed behavioral health services to eligible Nevada Army and Air National Guard service members through the Nevada Office of the Military’s Psychological Health Program. Responsibilities include clinical assessment, short-term psychotherapy, crisis intervention, care coordination, consultation, and referrals, with an emphasis on reducing barriers to care and promoting long-term psychological well-being.
Services are provided independently of military command, readiness, and fitness-for-duty functions, with confidentiality maintained except where disclosure is legally required or necessary to address an immediate safety concern.
Working within an interdisciplinary team under the clinical and administrative direction of the Psychological Health Clinical Manager, the Therapist exercises independent clinical judgment while maintaining accurate documentation, demonstrating cultural competence in military populations, and upholding professional confidentiality and dual-role boundaries.
Location: Reno, Nevada
Salary: Up to $104,713 annually, depending on qualifications
Master's degree or higher in social work, marriage and family therapy, clinical professional counseling, psychology, or a closely related behavioral health discipline from an appropriately accredited institution.
Current, active, and unrestricted Nevada license authorizing independent clinical practice as an LCSW, LMFT, CPC, psychologist, or other license specifically approved for the position.
Clinical training and experience in assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, psychotherapy, crisis intervention, suicide risk assessment, and care coordination.
Ability to meet all professional liability, background screening, credentialing, and employment requirements established by the State of Nevada and the Office of the Military.
Valid driver's license or reliable ability to travel to Nevada duty locations and community sites as assigned.
Ability to use an electronic health record, secure communication systems, videoconferencing platforms, and standard office software.
Experience providing behavioral health treatment to military members, veterans, first responders, or their families.
Advanced training or certification in trauma treatment, including EMDR or another evidence-based trauma therapy.
Training in CAMS, motivational interviewing, substance use screening, ASAM Criteria, grief and postvention, or evidence-based treatment for anxiety, depression, obsessive‑compulsive disorder, and complex trauma.
Experience working in a confidential program that interfaces with military or public‑safety leadership while maintaining clear clinical boundaries.
Experience with telehealth, rural service delivery, interdisciplinary collaboration, and community referral networks across Nevada.
Clinical assessment and treatment:
Conduct timely biopsychosocial and substance use assessments, diagnostic evaluations, risk assessments, treatment planning, and discharge planning within the therapist's scope of practice. Provide evidence‑informed individual, couple, family, or group psychotherapy as authorized by program policy and clinically appropriate. Deliver short‑term treatment generally designed for a six‑to‑twelve‑month episode of care, with continued service based on clinical need, progress, program criteria, and supervisory review.
Treat concerns that may include trauma and posttraumatic stress, depression, anxiety, obsessive‑compulsive symptoms, adjustment difficulties, grief, relationship stress, occupational stress, and other behavioral health conditions within program scope.
