About Our Client:Addison Group is partnering with one of our clients to hire an Accounts Payable professional to support day-to-day accounting operations within a growing, multi-location organization. This role offers the opportunity to expand beyond transactional AP and gain exposure to general ledger activities.
Job Description:The Accounts Payable Accountant will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records and supporting broader accounting functions. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with detailed data, values organized processes, and is eager to develop a well-rounded accounting skill set in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:- Manage high-volume, end-to-end accounts payable processing across multiple business units
- Maintain accurate vendor records, including setup documentation and tax-related forms
- Review invoice coding to ensure expenses are posted to the appropriate accounts
- Prepare payment runs, supporting documentation, and follow up on outstanding payments
- Monitor sales tax activity and maintain documentation for periodic reporting
- Ensure consistent handling of employee reimbursements and petty cash activity
- Investigate and resolve vendor questions and payment discrepancies
- Reconcile accounts payable balances and aging reports on a monthly basis
- Assist with month-end and year-end close activities
- Prepare journal entries related to accruals, prepaid expenses, and reclassifications
- Support balance sheet reconciliations tied to accounts payable accounts
- Process journal entries for corporate credit card transactions
- Assist with audit preparation, with a focus on AP documentation and reconciliations
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 1–2 years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping, with a strong emphasis on accounts payable
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines
- Foundational knowledge of general ledger accounting and close processes
- Exposure to both accounts payable and general ledger accounting
