Mission descriptionIn the role of Foreign Trade Zone Site Specialist you will play a pivotal part on our Programs team. The FTZ is a secure area under U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) supervision operating outside of CBP territory. As an FTZ administrator you will oversee the intricacies of both foreign and domestic merchandise within our designated zones, ensuring seamless operations from storage to manufacturing.
Your role is key to maintaining compliance with U.S. and local laws while driving innovation through cost‑saving strategies and supporting the Safran Cabin Compliance Team.
- Manage Merchandise Movement: coordinate with customs brokers and the Safran Cabin Compliance Team on movements (CF214, CF7512, CF7501, CF3461, etc.), operations, storage, exhibition, assembly, manufacturing, and processing of merchandise within foreign trade zones.
- Regulatory Compliance: follow all U.S. CBP procedures, perform audits, recommend corrections to submitted 214s, 7512s, 7501s, and escalates to the FTZ Project Manager and compliance team for approval.
- Documentation & Coordination: lead efforts with third‑party providers to manage documentation requirements and facilitate smooth operations; identify new documentation needs as tariff and FTZ regulations evolve.
- Data Management: maintain updated product data within ERP and FTZ software systems, including descriptions, units, HTS, country of origin, and PGA details; research and correct incomplete or inaccurate data.
- Inventory Management: manage, update, and declare goods received into the zone on a daily basis; coordinate with the Cabin Compliance team to ensure consistency with policy.
- Develop Processes: maintain and update the FTZ Manual, identify process improvements to maximize efficiency and reduce cost, and share best‑practice information with the Cabin Compliance Team.
- Technology Utilization: stay current with FTZ‑related software and tools to optimize workflow; maintain training and knowledge to improve operational efficiency.
- Metrics Implementation: implement and report quarterly metrics to the business, and propose and implement cost‑saving and efficiency improvement projects within the zone.
- Training & Support: participate in and maintain training initiatives aimed at enhancing compliance awareness and best operational practices.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree relevant to international trade or logistics, or equivalent practical experience.
- Minimum 3–5 years FTZ operations experience, including related roles that demonstrate a strong understanding of international trade or logistics.
- Proficiency in ERP systems.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to handle multiple projects and assignments with close attention to detail.
- Problem‑solving, well‑organized, detail‑oriented, and accurate.
Preferred (not required): working knowledge of QAD FTZ software, customs brokerage experience, and experience in international logistics compliance.
