Department of Anthropology

College of Natural and Behavioral Sciences

Position Description

The Department of Anthropology at California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH), invites highly qualified, motivated, and well-organized applicants for a pool of part-time teaching appointments.

At CSUDH, we celebrate and respect diversity in all forms that include every race, religion, gender, ethnicity, veterans, people with varied abilities, and members of the LGBTQ+ community. CSUDH is seeking applications from candidates who can demonstrate experience in teaching and working with individuals from diverse backgrounds and contribute to the University's mission, vision, and core values.

Department of Anthropology is a community of scholars dedicated to teaching and learning excellence in our field and for our students. Through scholarly work and direct participation in research programs both locally and outside the United States, students study the varied nature of human experience in the cultures of the world. Through this study of people, their lifestyles and how they adapt to cultural change, both past and present, a student is better prepared to comprehend human behavior on local and global levels.

Comparative and evolutionary, scientific and humanistic, anthropology provides a unique opportunity for broadening and integrating one’s view of human existence. By attending classes, conducting fieldwork and participating in the research process, students gain an understanding of human cultural heritage, culture change, and cultural diversity in both past and contemporary societies.

The temporary faculty pool is continuously open, and positions are filled as needed, based on student enrollment and funding. Candidates may need to be available to begin teaching on short notice. The Fall term begins in late August and ends in mid-December; the Spring term begins mid-January and ends in mid-May. Opportunities for teaching during the Summer Sessions may also be available.
