Position Description
The Film & Television Production Degree Program in the Digital Media Arts Department at California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) invites highly qualified, motivated, and well-organized applicants for a pool of part‑time teaching appointments.

The B.A. in Film & Television Production is a hands‑on, professionally oriented program geared for students who want marketable job skills for careers in film, television, and related media industries. Students write, create, produce, direct, and edit their own film features, television documentaries, music videos, instructional films, television public service announcements (PSAs), and a variety of client‑based projects for nonprofit organizations, community groups, and corporate partners.
The mission of the degree is to:
- Provide an academic program that gives students a solid base in the theory and technology skills required for professional careers in the film and television industry.
- Provide hands‑on experience in the basic software and hardware tools utilized in film and television production.
- Provide the opportunity for students to work in teams, applying their producing, directing, writing, editing and engineering skills to produce a variety of professional quality film and television products.
- Develop interpersonal skills and professional demeanor that will enable students to work effectively and cooperatively as team players on collaborative projects in the industry.
The temporary faculty pool is continuously open, and positions are filled as needed, based on student enrollment and funding. Candidates may need to be available to begin teaching on short notice. The Fall term begins in late August and ends in mid‑December; the Spring term begins mid‑January and ends in mid‑May. Opportunities for teaching during the Summer Sessions may also be available.
Responsibilities
Teach a diverse student population of first‑generation college students with one hour of required office hours each week for every three credit units of course teaching assignment.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Film, Television, or Media Production.
- Appropriate experience related to the subject of the course(s) assigned.
- Experience teaching adult learners from diverse ages, socioeconomic, cultural, and academic backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior teaching experience at the college or university level and evidence of strong teaching.
- A Master’s degree or MFA in the field relevant to the curriculum or related discipline.
- Experience teaching online.
Employment Requirement
Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment.
