As a Test Engineer, you’ll play a crucial role in the design and development of automated PCBA and unit‑level test stations. This includes designing specialized test equipment for a range of power electronic equipment, such as inverters, onboard chargers, and DC fast chargers. You’ll collaborate with automation engineers to automate end‑of‑line and validation test equipment, and you’ll also contribute to the continuous improvement of our test stations for future programs.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop functional test equipment for printed circuit board assemblies (PCBA).
  • Document test equipment designs via electrical wiring schematics.
  • Work closely with the engineering project teams to ensure test equipment designs align with the software and hardware requirements.
  • Participate in design reviews, requirement reviews, DFMEAs, PFMEAs and Hazard Analyses.
  • Direct activities of prototype build lab personnel during fabrication of the test equipment.
  • Develop test procedures defining specific test setup requirements and instructions.
  • Perform data analysis and generate reports.
  • Utilize standard electronic test equipment such as power supplies, oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators and power analyzers.
  • Use sensors such as thermocouples, RTDs, strain gauges, accelerometers, pressure gauges, and flow meters.
  • Support technical root cause analysis and resolution of issues found during testing.
Qualifications
  • BS in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 5+ years’ experience designing circuit board assembly functional test equipment.
  • 5+ years’ experience designing test equipment for high voltage power electronics or high voltage battery chargers.
  • Ability to create schematics using design software tools such as OrCAD, and AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Familiarity with modular test instruments and National Instruments I/O Systems (PXI, cDAQ)
  • Knowledge of and experience with computer hardware, communication, and bus protocols (RS232, CAN, GPIB, Ethernet, USB).
  • Hands‑on experience with diagnosing and troubleshooting complex issues with minimal supervision
  • Familiarity with environmental test set ups and test error proofing.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced development environment.
  • Self‑motivated:
Demonstrated ability to set direction and guide the team towards it.
