Job Overview

This entry‑level Machine Operator position operates under the direction of a Production Supervisor and is responsible for the safe setup, operation, and maintenance of production machine(s) following established procedures and guidelines.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Clock in and perform transactions in Shop‑Trak; update status on projects, material moves, and scrap for all operations.
  • Load, unload, receive, and store raw materials and supplies.
  • Prepare machines to start a production cycle, performing calibration, cleaning, and other activities efficiently in accordance with quality standards and safety procedures.
  • Use computer‑aided manufacturing programs to monitor, control, and adjust machine settings while operating machinery and/or equipment, according to specifications.
  • Perform periodic checks on machinery and/or equipment, troubleshoot issues that occur during shift, and maintain operator logs.
  • Complete work as required to meet production and schedule requirements.
  • Perform minor repairs and routine preventative maintenance on machines, including cleaning scrap trays and filters.
  • Assist peers and/or cross‑train on other machines/equipment as needed.
  • Work with peers to identify product defects and report necessary nonconformances to Supervisor or Quality Inspector.
  • Work with peers to coordinate movement of parts and/or products to the next step operation.
  • Follow safety protocols and wear personal protective equipment as required.
  • Maintain equipment and work areas; clean and perform basic repairs as needed.

  • May travel for training less than 1%
Qualifications
  • Mechanical aptitude to operate and maintain machinery effectively.
  • Basic arithmetic and computer skills.
  • Comfortable using hand tooling and basic measuring equipment; tolerances are key.
  • Ability to understand oral and written instructions, learn quickly, meet deadlines, and maintain equipment.
  • Strong communication and people skills; team player willing to learn.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment (PPE, dusty, hot, non‑climate‑controlled).
  • Ability to work off‑shift hours in support of plant initiatives.
  • Must demonstrate proficiency in core production roles within 90 days of hire.
  • Knowledge of G‑Code (may be required based on position).
Physical and Mental Demands
  • Regularly required to talk or hear.
  • Regularly stand, walk, and may sit for extended periods.
  • Regularly use hand‑eye coordination, grasp, manipulate, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, reach, push, pull, and perform repetitive motions.
  • Frequently lift and/or move objects up to 50 lbs; occasionally lift or move objects >100 lbs using mechanical equipment.
  • Specific vision abilities: close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, focus adjustment.
  • Must work in various temperature and weather conditions, including extreme heat, humidity, and cold.
Work Environment Characteristics
  • Plant Environment – manufacturing setting with uneven surfaces, cords, tools, and other obstacles; intermittent loud noises; dusty/dirty conditions; PPE required.
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or GED (Required).
  • Minimum of 1 year machine operating experience.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
  • CalOSHA 10 (preferred).
  • CPR & First Aid Certification (preferred).
