Howmet Fastening Systems (HFS) is seeking a Production Supervisor (Manufacturing) in our Carson, California location. HFS is a business unit of Howmet Aerospace, headquartered in Torrance, California.
Essential Functions- Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in operating a variety of machines to manufacture parts or products.
- Supervises work teams and individuals in the areas of manufacturing to meet customer quality and on-time delivery needs.
- Supervises work teams and individuals in the areas of manufacturing to comply with company policies.
- Analyzes work orders to estimate worker hours and create machining schedules that meet both internal and external needs.
- Schedules and/or approves overtime and vacations.
- Manages teams by establishing monthly and quarterly performance goals.
- Assists in setting and achieving productivity and quality targets for the various teams.
- Coaches team or manufacturing personnel in their continuous improvement efforts.
- Interfaces with others in the organization to ensure customer deadlines are met.
- Inspects and measures parts and products to verify conformance to specifications.
- Directs workers in adjusting machines and equipment to repair products which fail to meet standards.
- Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
- Develops, recommends, and implements measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
- Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew.
- Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems.
- Maintains time and production records.
- Develops capital equipment justifications for machine tools and process technology to improve quality, cost, and cycle times.
- Estimates, requisitions, and inspects materials.
- Reviews daily production reports and forms.
- Attends Daily Manufacturing Review Meeting.
- Supports Manufacturing Manager in meeting department goals and objectives.
- Computer proficiency, especially in navigating manufacturing software and daily reporting tools.
- Intermediate-level skills in Microsoft Excel – ability to use formulas, generate reports, and analyze production metrics is essential.
- Familiarity with ERP systems, QAD preferred, and digital inventory tracking is a plus.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of management and employees.
- Highly organized and detail oriented; excellent time management skills.
- 3+ years of experience leading a team in a manufacturing environment.
- Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
- Bachelor's degree in Business or Engineering.
- Supervisory experience in manufacturing.
- Experience with the manufacturing of precision machined metal components.
- Experience in a machine shop.
- Experience with TPS/Continuous Improvement/Lean Manufacturing principles and programs.
- Experience in the aerospace industry.
- Must be able to work on site in Carson, California.
- Must be able to work the 1st shift (Start Time: 3 AM).
