We are seeking a detail-oriented Deburr / Benchwork Operator to join our aerospace and defense manufacturing team. This role is critical to ensuring the precision, quality, and conformance of CNC‑machined and punch‑pressed components. The technician will perform hands‑on post‑machining processes such as deburring, blending, hand sanding, polishing, and inspection of metal parts to meet customer and AS9100 quality standards.
The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, takes pride in craftsmanship, and has at least one year of experience in deburring, metal finishing, or similar manufacturing environments. Preference will be given to candidates with a short commute and reliable attendance to support daily production needs.
Key Responsibilities- Perform deburr, blending, and finishing operations on aerospace and defense components using hand tools, power tools, air tools, and abrasive equipment.
- Interpret basic blueprints, work instructions, and routers to understand part requirements and tolerances.
- Follow detailed instructions to ensure proper edge break, radiusing, and surface finish without damaging critical features.
- Visually inspect parts for burrs, sharp edges, surface imperfections, and conformance to specifications.
- Collaborate with machinists, quality inspectors, and production leadership to ensure smooth work order flow and part readiness.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, following company safety policies and best practices.
- Proactively communicate any non‑conformance, tooling needs, or process issues to supervisors for timely resolution.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by providing feedback on deburring processes and techniques.
Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of experience in deburring, hand‑finishing, metalworking, or similar benchwork role within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and familiarity with hand tools, pneumatic tools, and finishing equipment.
- Ability to perform repetitive, detail‑focused tasks with consistency and care.
- Basic understanding of part drawings and measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, thread gauges, etc.).
- Strong hand‑eye coordination
, dexterity, and attention to detail. - Positive attitude with a commitment to quality, reliability, and teamwork
. - Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs and work in a standing position for extended periods.
- Dependable transportation and a commute of less than 30 minutes preferred to ensure punctuality and support daily production flow.
- Experience working on aerospace or defense parts under AS9100 or other regulated quality systems.
- Familiarity with titanium, stainless steel, aluminum, or Inconel part finishing.
- Exposure to First Article Inspection (FAI) environments.
