Branch Manager

JOB SUMMARY

The Bartow County Public Library System is seeking a dynamic, innovative, multi-skilled employee to manage the operation of the branch libraries. The Branch Manager is the face of the library in the local community and will interact with local officials, civic groups, schools, and other organizations. The successful candidate will possess a passion for public service, strong programming skills, effective communication, and leadership abilities.

This professional position operates under the supervision of the Executive Director and requires availability to work evening and weekend shifts.

Full Time

$ 50,000 – $55,000

• Knowledge of adult and youth literature, reference materials, popular reading trends, current events, local culture, websites, and electronic media that cater to all ages.

• An MLIS degree and supervisory experience are required. Must maintain Georgia State Librarian certification.
• Continuing education in areas of adult and youth services and related technology.
• Three to five years of supervisory experience required.
• Marketing, public relations, and programming experience required.

All positions require skills commensurate with the educational level, aptitudes, experience, and training in specific areas. These items are delineated clearly in the appropriate job description. Requirements for each library position are determined largely by the qualifications cited in the job descriptions. Certain criteria must be met by all employees of the library system, regardless of position. These include:

• Strength, for example, pushing loaded book carts on level floor and up ramp; lifting or maneuvering onto cart loads up to 30 pounds; carrying cartons of books up and down stairs.
• Ability to bend, stoop, and lift for prolonged periods in cramped spaces.

Requires a valid Georgia Driver’s License or Government-issued photo .
Must maintain Georgia State Librarian certification.
