• Cut, stain, and prepare tissue samples for pathologist review.
• Prioritize testing procedures and complete them accurately and timely.
• Maintain accurate records of all tests performed in accordance with established policies, procedures, and regulations.

  Education Required:
  
  High school diploma or equivalent plus sufficient college/technical courses and/or clinical training in Histology to satisfy ASCP testing and certification requirements (HT or HTL). Must meet Georgia Department of Human Resources Laboratory Licensure Division requirements.
• Minimum Experience
  
  Required:
  
  Recent graduate from an accredited histology program and/or one year of technical experience in a surgical pathology laboratory.
• Minimum Licensure/Certification Required by Law: Certification as a Histotechnologist or Histotechnician by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or other acceptable agency per Georgia regulations. New Georgia residents may be temporarily classified for up to 18 months to complete certifying examinations.
• Additional Qualifications: Three years experience in a surgical pathology laboratory.
