job summary

responsible professional work delivering therapeutic services utilizing a multi-model approach with individuals, groups, siblings or families. Involves a broad range of training and development activities, assessment services, caseload consultation and requires quality documentation of services provided completed under the supervision of a licensed professional. Participates in organization’s continuous quality improvement efforts and positive behavior intervention support.

essential functions
  • delivers therapeutic services using a trauma informed care approach with individuals, siblings or family’s and in a group setting. Service delivery provided in an emergency shelter setting.
  • provides assessment services and caseload consultation. Provides on-going assessment, evaluation, treatment, discharge planning and other therapeutic services as required in group or individual counseling sessions.
  • completes accurate, timely clinical documentation of the highest quality and consistent with agency standards, rules and regulation, and medicaid. Completes required assessments, treatment plans and progress notes.
  • formulates, coordinates and implements programming associated with the treatment plan
  • facilitates the implementation of the treatment plan with the caregivers. Monitors the overall course of treatment services for the client and family.
  • performs case management and communicates with identified partners such as department of children and families, guardian ad litems, case managers.
  • attends and participates in all treatment plan reviews, psychiatric consultations, internal/external utilization meetings, and/or any client review meetings requiring the therapist’s input.
  • facilitates a therapeutic transition and a positive placement for each client upon discharge.
  • attend scheduled psychiatric appointments with clients
  • prepares and conducts agency-wide or program specific training as directed.
  • participate in all continuous quality improvement activities as required
  • perform other duties as assigned.
  • may transport youth as needed or be ratio in a cottage for youth supervision
  • may assist with intakes during admission process and assist the intake coordinator as needed
  • must, as directed, report and respond to campus to any and all events of an emergency

minimum qualification requirements

education & experience: a master’s degree from an accredited university or college in the field of social work, counseling, or psychology and one years’ experience in providing services to children, or special needs youth, at risk youth or persons with serious mental illness. Training in evaluations and assessments, treatment planning, treatment interventions, documentation, abuse regulations, patient rights and crisis intervention. License in mental health or clinical social work preferred.

licenses & certifications:

  • first aid and cpr certified or ability to obtain within 30 days of new hire date
  • must possess and maintain a valid florida driver’s license with no record of criminal driving offense or license suspension.
  • must be insurable under chn’s current auto insurance policy.
  • must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • must successfully complete and maintain fdle clearance, federal background and state criminal background check and sexual predator screening.

  • ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing. Ability to establish effective working relationships with clients, co-workers, supervisors and other individuals. Possess effective interpersonal skills.

  • knowledge of child abuse or neglect reporting procedures and methods.
  • knowledge of counseling, intervention and treatment methods, strategies and techniques.
