We are a growing institution that supports employee wellness and development. Our Writing Center provides support to students through sessions, resources, workshops, and class visits.

Job Summary

This position provides support for various functions at the Georgia Highlands College Writing Center. This role is based at our Cartersville location.

Responsibilities
  • Understand, support, and carry out the college's mission, vision, and values and comply with mandates and regulations of government and accrediting bodies.
  • Conduct individualized sessions to support students with brainstorming, organizing, drafting, revising, and editing writing assignments.
  • Provide constructive, respectful feedback on content, structure, clarity, and mechanics without rewriting the student’s work.
  • Maintain accurate records of sessions and follow Writing Center protocols.
  • Utilize and promote Writing Center resources such as handouts, workshops, and class visits.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

This is not a supervisory position. The Writing Center Coordinator will assign tasks and direct work of this position.

Required Qualifications

Education and status: High school diploma or equivalent and current GHC undergraduate student enrolled for at least six (6) credit hours.

  • Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) currently being met
  • Current Year FAFSA on file with all verifications and any other requirements complete
  • Currently enrolled for at least six (6) credit hours
  • Some prior experience is preferred but not required. Job-specific training will be provided.
Compensation and Schedule

Salary: $12.00 per hour

Hours: 19 hours per week max.
