Travel RN - Med​/Surg

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med/Surg RN with a GA or compact license for a day shift hospital position requiring at least 2 years of experience.

• Active GA or Compact RN license required at time of consideration
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg experience required
• BLS and NIHSS certifications required
• ACLS and CPI certifications preferred
• Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, and peripheral line care/management
• Central line blood draw and PICC line management experience preferred
• Experience starting and maintaining IVs preferred
• Cardiac monitoring and emergency response skills, including dysrhythmia interpretation and management preferred
• Telemetry monitoring experience (on-unit and remote) preferred
• Experience with Rapid Response/Code team protocols
• Knowledge of isolation precautions and PPE use
• Experience with nasal cannula, oxygen administration, and non-invasive airway management
• Experience with pre/post hemodialysis management and renal failure care
• Experience with surgical drain management
• Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
• No prior travel experience required

• Medical-Surgical unit caring for general med-surg, peritoneal dialysis, and radial band recovery patients (no PCI)
• Day shift schedule, 3x12 hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call responsibilities
• Floating required within facility and scope of practice as needed
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Epic charting system preferred
• Provide direct patient care for a general medical-surgical population including peritoneal dialysis and radial band recovery patients
• No schedule requests or block scheduling accommodations permitted
• Holiday coverage required based on number of major holidays falling within the assignment period (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year's Eve/Day)
• Maximum of 7 days RTO per contract, which must be finalized prior to starting the assignment
• No RTO permitted during orientation week
• Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate
• Former Piedmont perm, PRN, or internal staff must be separated from all Piedmont facilities for one full year before returning as a traveler
• Travelers who cancelled or were released from a Piedmont assignment must complete one assignment outside of Piedmont before reapplying
