As a Technician II at Penske, you are a respected technician. You are trusted to work independently while doing major and minor repairs, performing road tests to diagnose problems, and completing maintenance tasks. You set an example and informally mentor new technicians while continuing to grow your skills by learning from other experienced techs and your manager.

Working Schedule

4-10 hour shifts on 1st shift: 7:00am–5:30pm.

Main Responsibilities
  • Making sure vehicles are maintained and safe for customers
  • Performing preventive maintenance services on truck and trailer equipment with little or no supervision and in a timely manner
  • Repairing and troubleshooting components such as engines, transmissions and differentials, turbochargers, fuel system components, etc.
  • Keeping the work area clean and safe
  • Using Penske’s tools and technologies to log, research and complete repairs, including basic vehicle diagnostics
  • Learning new skills through Penske’s technician training
  • Working on other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor

Qualifications
  • 3 years of practical experience with vehicle maintenance required
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred; vocational or technical certification in vehicle repair preferred
  • Specialized training and experience in diagnosis/troubleshooting major components (engines, transmissions, differentials); OEM training, ASE Certification, and 608/609 certifications (preferred)
  • Experience using diagnostic tools and common hand and power tools
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Problem-solving ability
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Team player
  • Willing to work in non-climate-controlled conditions
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to follow Penske policies, safety rules (DOT, OSHA) and use required tools and PPE
  • Regular, predictable attendance
  • Because the role involves driving Penske and customer vehicles, a current driver qualification file is maintained, including MVR check, DOT Physical, and Safety History records; CDL holders may require DOT Drug Screening and FMCSA Clearinghouse review
  • Willingness to travel within the district as necessary
Physical Requirements
  • Move, stand, walk, climb, bend, and sit for extended periods
  • Use hands to grasp, reach, and operate tools
  • Work safely at heights and in all weather conditions
  • See and hear to navigate the work environment
  • Lift up to 50 lbs frequently and up to 100 lbs occasionally
