Maintenance Technician
Join the YMCA of Metropolitan Atlanta as a Maintenance Technician. The YMCA is a leading non‑profit dedicated to education, wellness, youth development, and community building across Atlanta.
As a key member of our team, you will support our mission to positively impact lives and communities by maintaining our facilities and grounds.
Nature And ScopeThe Maintenance Technician reports to the Facility Manager and is responsible for day‑to‑day facilities and grounds repairs, as well as emergency and preventive maintenance.
RESPONSIBILITIES (including, But Not Limited To)- Estimate time and materials needed to complete repair.
- Order necessary materials and supplies to complete all tasks.
- Assist with installation and modification of building equipment systems.
- Assist with troubleshooting and repairs of buildings and installed systems to include plumbing, kitchen equipment, roofs, drains, shop, and HVAC.
- Maintain lighting systems throughout the facility, cleaning fixtures and replacing bulbs and lamps.
- Respond quickly to emergency situations, summoning additional assistance.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues.
- Perform preventive maintenance activities and document per required systems.
- Promote and ensure facility safety and security.
- Complete daily work orders as assigned.
- Record, organize, and complete all maintenance and repair activities.
- Assist with preventive maintenance program, including PM on facility equipment.
- MAY occasionally be required to use company vehicle to pick up supplies or make deliveries.
- Repair broken or leaking plumbing to avoid water damage and restore full use of water fixtures.
- Work on damaged electrical wiring when a shortage or severed wire occurs.
- Maintain the building heating equipment to keep climate control functioning properly.
- Apply preventative measures to reduce risk of future problems.
- Fix potential safety hazards to avoid injuries.
- Paint the building when old paint has become faded or chipped.
- 1+ years of experience with property maintenance.
- Knowledge in building maintenance and grounds keeping.
- Proven skills in detailed reporting, written & verbal communication, and multitasking.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to physically tour buildings and outdoor sites unaccompanied.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to pass a Department of Motor Vehicle Check.
