Manager-Regional EMS - Full Time - Mercy Carthage Overview
Under the general direction of the Administrative Director of EMS, the Regional EMS Manager manages and supervises daily activities and operations of multiple EMS facilities and co‑workers in a regional area, supporting the goals, objectives and leadership principles of Mercy EMS. Duties include coworker supervision, scheduling, performance evaluations, vehicle maintenance, equipment maintenance, office files, statistical reports, state trip tickets, petty cash, fuel purchases, supply inventory, community relations, training and continuing education.
The Manager also performs direct patient care—assessment, evaluation, basic and advanced life support—according to Mercy Health System protocols and responds in the field throughout the assigned region as needed. The role integrates Mercy’s philosophy of caring for the sick and injured, respect for human life, and dignity of each person, and applies Christian values to all crucial human issues in the area over which the Manager has responsibility.
Details
Education: Any pattern of education that provides opportunity to acquire the knowledge and abilities required; usually graduation from an accredited four‑year college with major coursework in health care administration, public administration, management, nursing, emergency medical or disaster preparedness.
Licensure: Paramedic license in the state(s) of current practice and a valid driver’s license.
Experience: Five (5) years experience in EMS with at least two (2) years service as an EMS Supervisor.
Certifications: Paramedic license for the state(s) of current practice.
Other: Knowledge of current concepts, techniques and trends in emergency medical services. Ability to quickly respond to vehicle, access patients in difficult terrain, perform strenuous physical requirements such as CPR, lifting and moving equipment and patients, and meet pre‑hire and annual fitness for duty tests.
