Position Summary
  • Comply with standards of business conduct according to federal, state, and local health and regulatory standards and guidelines.
  • Must possess at least a high school diploma or GED.
  • Work well with peers in a congenial work environment, maintain compassion and dignity to residents and adhere to the Resident Bill of Rights.
  • May be subject to callback during emergency conditions (e.g., severe weather, evacuation, staffing shortages).
  • Adhere to Viva Senior Living’s attendance policies and follow terms and conditions of employment as set forth in the Employee Handbook.
  • Read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Maintain highest standards of caring and servicing residents and their families.
  • Adhere to all facility policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
  • Accurate and timely distribution and documentation of medication for residents in accordance with physician orders and regulations.
  • Assist residents in maintaining wellbeing by following Plan of Care and providing assistance with daily living activities, social activities, dietary assistance, and Viva Senior Living’s philosophies.
  • Supervise and care for residents on a daily basis according to their needs.
  • Aid with activities of daily living, bathing, showering, shower shampoo, dressing, oral hygiene, shaving, hair and fingernail care.
  • Observe, supervise, and record resident self‑administration of prescribed medications.
  • Report refusals and/or reactions to supervisor on duty.
  • Direct residents and family members to appropriate staff for additional needs or information.
  • Order meal trays for residents when needed.
  • Report and record observations of changes in residents’ condition to director or supervisor in the daily logbook; transfer information to next shift through shift‑to‑shift verbal report.
  • Implement personal care plans for each resident.
  • Be patient and understanding when communicating with staff, residents, and visitors; speak slowly and clearly.
  • Provide assistance in dining room as needed.
  • Administer medication as directed by supervisor.
  • Answer emergency calls promptly and courteously, complete required paperwork afterward.
  • Retrieve soiled linen and personal clothing from resident living areas, sort and pre‑soak linens before processing through washing machines.
  • Maintain general upkeep and cleanliness of a resident’s room: empty waste baskets, wipe spills, wash dishes, put away clothes, check refrigerator for spoiled food, make beds, change linens.
  • Check for unsecured throw rugs and extension cords.
  • Observe condition of room/apartment and report items needing repair to maintenance.
  • Document clearly and objectively residents in logbook and on other documents.
  • Participate in in‑service educational programs as required.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Requirements
  • Annual verification of a negative TB skin test.
  • Proof of full COVID‑19 vaccination is required (exceptions for medical and religious accommodations).
Physical and Sensory Requirements
  • Move intermittently throughout the workday.
  • Coping with mental and emotional stress of the position.
  • See and hear or use prosthetics to function adequately and ensure position requirements are met.
  • Meet general health requirements set forth by facility policies, including medical and physical examination.
  • Work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and/or agitated residents.
  • Push, pull, move, and/or lift at least 25 pounds to a height of 5 feet and carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet.
  • Assist in evacuation of residents during emergency situations, if necessary.
