Job Description & How to Apply Below

Kingdom Pathways is a Native Hawaiian, community-driven non-profit committed to environmental restoration, cultural preservation, and social justice in Waiʻanae, Oʻahu. Through hands‑on learning, restoration projects, and advocacy, we empower the next generation of leaders to mālama ʻāina (care for the land) and foster sustainable solutions for Hawaiʻi. Our Ho‘oulu Lāhui Project focuses on reforesting public spaces with native landscapes, revitalizing cultural practices, and engaging the community in environmental stewardship.

Job Summary:

The Workshop Coordinator is responsible for developing and facilitating community workshops focused on native plant restoration, sustainable land management, and cultural connection to ʻāina. Working closely with Kingdom Pathways staff, local schools, and community members, the Workshop Coordinator will plan, organize, and lead educational sessions that inspire action and foster deeper relationships with the environment.

Detailed Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement educational workshops on topics such as native plant restoration, climate resilience, and sustainable land management and la'au lapa'au.
  • Engage and collaborate with community members, educators, and partner organizations to expand outreach and impact.
  • Create hands‑on learning experiences that incorporate traditional Hawaiian ecological knowledge (ʻike kūpuna). Engage the community in interactive learning, including sustainable food workshops that teach cooking, preservation, and food sovereignty.
  • Coordinate event logistics, including scheduling, site preparation, materials, and participant engagement.
  • This role includes travel and per diem benefits to support engagement with communities across different locations.
  • Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness, adjusting strategies as needed to enhance learning outcomes.
Experience

Required:

We are looking for a passionate, community‑driven individual who believes in mālama ʻāina and empowering people through knowledge. The ideal candidate will have:

  • A background in education, community engagement, environmental science, or cultural preservation.
  • Experience facilitating workshops or teaching, especially in outdoor, hands‑on settings.
  • Knowledge of Hawaiian ecological practices, native plants, and conservation efforts.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic, community‑focused environment.
  • A valid driver’s license and ability to travel to various community and workshop sites.
  • Proficiency in digital tools such as Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and Smartsheets is a plus.
Schedule:

The Workshop Coordinator will work a flexible schedule that includes weekdays, weekends, and evenings depending on workshop and event needs.

Ho‘oulu Lāhui is supported by the US EPA Community Change Grant and funded by the Urban & Community Forestry Program through the Rooting Resilience Program, & Kingdom Pathways. Kingdom Pathways is an equal opportunity employer dedicated to fostering a diverse, inclusive, and culturally grounded work environment.
