Operating Room RN; Part Time

The Registered Nurse is a clinical practitioner who assesses, coordinates, implements, and evaluates patient care specific to the age of the patient population served from newborn to the elderly. He/she ensures that quality care is provided in an efficient and safe manner, consistent with the unit’s standards of care. He/she demonstrates performance consistent with the mission, philosophy and goals of the unit and organization;

remains flexible to changing system; is expected to demonstrate quality and effectiveness in work habits and clinical practice; and treats staff, physicians, patients and families with consideration and respect. Acts as a patient advocate at all times.

• Obtains and records initial assessment and establishes priorities according to patient age, symptoms, psychological and spiritual needs.
• Reassesses patients systemically to identify progress and trends that require intervention.
• Assesses and reassesses the patient’s level of pain, providing effective treatment and the necessary education for follow-up care.
• Maintains knowledge regarding telemetry and EKG interpretations.
• Makes comprehensive nursing decisions based on the interpretation of facts and evaluations of patient outcome; modifies the plan of care based on evaluations.
• Participates in patient/significant other health education and discharge planning.
• Implements and documents timely interventions appropriate to patient needs.
• Utilizes infection control measures appropriately.
• Delegates unit work assignments appropriately to ensure completion of required patient care support activities.
• Coordinates team assignments and makes adjustments based on patient and unit needs; follows up on delegated patient care tasks for quality and completeness.
• Utilizes the appropriate chain of command for the resolution of difficult issues.
• Assumes accountability for continual education enhancement.
• Participates in orientation of new staff/students on the unit.
• Maintains competency for operation of all unit equipment.
• Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
• Maintains a neat, organized and safe environment for patients and staff.
• Knowledgeable in the duties of OR circulator.
• Assists in administrative duties as directed.
• Available for “leave word” for emergencies as directed by the department rotation.
• Will embody FOCUS values through interactions with patients/residents and coworkers.

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Currently licensed to practice nursing in the State of Illinois.
• Maintains ACLS, PALS and BLS Certification.

• Intraoperative surgery experience

Anticipated Schedule
:
Rotating Days (start and end time will vary depending on schedule)

Areas Covered
:
Will rotate through all areas of surgery (pre, intra, PACU, post op)

Call
: Every 6th Saturday )

Wage Range: $34.00 – $45.00/hour (Actual wage based on relevant experience)
