Summary / Objective
The Senior Estimator develops project estimates and schedules for civil construction projects ($2M-$40M), interprets contract requirements, and mentors junior team members. Experience in heavy highway, earthwork, bridge, and utility construction.
Essential Functions- Interpret bid documents and construction plans.
- Conduct quantity takeoffs from project plans.
- Define project scope and required disciplines.
- Identify subcontractor roles and DBE participation to meet project goals.
- Identify constructability issues and value engineering opportunities.
- Coordinate pre-bid activities and owner inquiries.
- Prepare and review project estimates and schedules ($1M-$40M).
- Mentor junior estimators.
- Create and deliver project bid packages.
- Oversee junior estimators.
Education and Experience
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a construction-related field (preferred).
- 5-10+ years of civil construction estimating experience.
- Familiarity with Department of Transportation specifications.
- Experience using Heavy Bid or similar estimating software.

- Prior work with NCDOT.
