Job SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer with a strong background in designing large‑scale electric power systems such as power generation plants, high voltage (HV)/medium voltage (MV) substations, and utility distribution planning. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise, leadership capabilities, and a collaborative mindset to help utility clients navigate the evolving energy landscape. Your primary responsibilities will focus on providing advisory and design solutions for energy project development and technical delivery as part of the energy and power team.
Key Responsibilities- Perform power studies and develop designs for large‑scale behind‑the‑meter power generation projects.
- Manage, oversee, and approve the execution of power system studies (including short‑circuit, load flow, coordination, arc flash, motor starting) and engineering design of large‑scale electric power systems.
- Specify project performance and design requirements for HV or MV substations, utility distribution and/or transmission networks, and utility‑scale energy storage and renewable energy systems.
- Execute and lead power system studies using SKM Power Tools, ETAP, Easy Power, or similar modeling software.
- Conduct campus utility master planning, strategic investment planning, or decarbonization/climate response planning.
- Lead the development of long‑term utility infrastructure plans, including transmission and distribution system roadmaps.
- Conduct and guide resiliency studies to assess system vulnerabilities and recommend robust mitigation strategies.
- Develop and deliver highly technical and creative solutions to clients with a focus on achieving organizational goals.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical training and development within the team.
- Interface with utility clients, regulatory bodies, and stakeholders to align project outcomes with strategic objectives.
- Prepare and review high‑quality technical reports, proposals, and presentations.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes impacting utility planning.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering (Power Systems emphasis preferred).
- Minimum 5 years of experience in design, consulting, or operations working with clients, service providers, contractors, OEMs, owner/developers, lenders or regulators in the energy field.
- Proven experience in serving a key role in complex energy projects and multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong proficiency in power system analysis software and design tools.
- Familiarity with energy service performance contracts.
- Successful execution of Department of Defense projects.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and client engagement skills.
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license required or ability to obtain within 6 months.
- U.S. citizen.
- Experience with integrated resource planning (IRP), DER integration, and grid modernization.
- Familiarity with grid operators, NERC/FERC standards, and utility regulatory environments.
- Knowledge of climate resilience, sustainability, and electrification strategies.
- Experience working with municipal utilities, cooperatives, or investor‑owned utilities.
