This position is focused on the design of structures supporting water purification and treatment facilities, making water supplies more resilient and sustainable. The engineer will design a variety of structural systems, broaden their design experience, and collaborate with other disciplines while delivering critical water infrastructure projects to the community.

• Execute complex structural analysis, perform calculations, and prepare sketches and drawings for the design of water and wastewater treatment plants, industrial facilities, and other complex structural facilities.
• Supervise Structural Engineers (both in the US and overseas) and work with Structural Technicians in preparation of structural drawings and specifications; lead medium‑sized production teams.
• Perform construction phase engineering duties such as site visits, responding to RFIs, and reviewing contractor submittals.
• Perform project administrative tasks: preparation of design fee estimates, monitoring progress against budget and schedule, management of project changes, and implementation of Black & Veatch Quality Control requirements.
• Coordinate work with architects and other discipline engineers; balance client interests and stakeholder drivers.
• Lead a team to execute complex projects with construction values up to $100M.
• Provide guidance on design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes, and B&V policies; assist in developing and updating engineering standards.
• Support continuous improvement efforts and provide guidance to others.
• Implement resource management strategy, managing resources for a small group.

• Master of Engineering or Master of Science from an ABET accredited Structural Engineering program.
• Familiarity with the latest editions of the International Building Code, ASCE 7, ACI 318, AISC Steel Construction Manual, ACI 530.
• Proficiency with structural analysis software such as RISA 3D, STAADPro, or SAP 2000.
• Proficiency with non-structural software packages such as Bluebeam, Project Wise, AutoCAD, and Revit.

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited program or equivalent experience in engineering work.
• Minimum of 5 years related work experience.
• Active engineering registration or licensure to support engineer of record (EOR) requirements for BV projects in applicable countries.

Active engineering registration or licensure as a support engineer of record (EOR) when required.

The role offers flexible work options that may be offered after the first 90 days based on manager discretion and job performance. Hybrid or flexible work may be available based on location and role.
