Overview

TRC is seeking a 2-5 year Engineer I or II to support our water resources and civil engineering practice in Cary, North Carolina.

We are seeking an individual with Hydraulics and/or Water Resources project experience. Position will require development of hydraulic models, site plans, soil erosion and sediment control plans, and stormwater control measure (SCM) design for a variety of public and private projects. Typical project duties include:

  • Asset Inventory Analysis and Capital Planning
  • Public and Private Site Design
  • Utility System Design
  • Grant Writing and Administration
  • Cost Estimating
  • Disaster Recovery Support
  • Civil engineering/land development
  • Grading plans
  • Utility plans and profiles
Responsibilities
  • Preparation of permit and construction level engineering site plans using AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Stormwater management design, including grading, piping, and stormwater quantity and quality design
  • Hydrologic and hydraulic modeling,
  • Preparation of a variety of technical reports, including stormwater management reports, Erosion and Sediment Control Plans & Narratives, Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP), and Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure Plans (SPCC).
  • Quantity take-off and cost estimating
  • Field investigations and construction oversight.
  • Attending and Leading Project Progress, Pre-Bid and Pre-Construction Meetings
  • Client Meetings and Industry Conferences
  • Attending City Council and Board Meetings
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or environmental engineering from an ABET accredited program.
  • Engineer-In-Training (EI or EIT) Certification Preferred or ability to complete within 6 months of joining
  • 2-5 years' experience in water resources, or similar with skills in site layout, grading, erosion and sediment control plans, engineering details, and stormwater management design
  • Experience in use of hydrology and hydraulics design software, such as Hydro

    CAD, AutoCAD Storm and Sanitary Analysis, Bentley Storm

    CAD, Bentley Civil Storm, EPA SWMM, PCSWMM, and HEC-RAS.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements applicable to project work, including stormwater management, land development, and water quality.
  • Willingness to assist with various types of field work, including but not limited to soil and groundwater investigations, inspections, and construction oversight.
  • Strong people skills.
  • Have positive health and safety behaviors.
  • Have strong communications skills, both written and oral.
  • Must be flexible, organized, dependable, and accountable with a proactive approach to responsibilities.
  • Responsive attitude when interacting with staff, peers, management, and clients.
  • Experience in civil land development, stream restoration, flood plain analysis and flood plain permitting are a plus
  • Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D 2022 or later is a plus
  • Professional Engineering License is a plus
