Lead Electrical Engineer – Cary, NC Summary
Our Cary, NC office is looking for a talented Lead Electrical Engineer. The Lead Electrical Engineer manages electrical engineering activities within the organization, implements and maintains policies and procedures for designing, performing calculations, and detailing electrical systems. They review and approve new or revised designs and installation procedures, ensure projects are properly staffed and milestones are achieved.
Key Responsibilities- Strong understanding of engineering life cycles related to electrical deliverables.
- Work directly with project lead engineers and other MEP disciplines to design electrical systems for Biotech and Pharmaceutical clients.
- Design switch gear, low, medium, and high voltage systems; create single line diagrams and line drawings.
- Develop technical specifications and layouts in tandem with project managers and engineers across multiple disciplines.
- Identify deliverables, define requirements, and create detailed design drawings and plans for electrical systems.
- Develop electrical layouts, including equipment sizing on floor plans.
- Ensure all electrical projects adhere to quality standards.
- Interact and present to contractors, clients and internal team.
- Provide guidance and professional development to a team of engineers.
- Provide input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility.
- Resolve escalated issues arising from operations, coordinating with other departments.
- Licensed P.E.
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
- 10+ years of facility design and construction experience in clean rooms, laboratories, biotech, pharma, or Life sciences industries.
- Strong motivation, organization, and professional initiative.
- Works independently and as part of a team.
- Works in fast‑paced, challenging environments.
- Excellent organizational skills with ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint);
Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Navisworks.
