We’re looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer Lead in Cary, NC who is excited about working on advanced facilities projects that enable the heart of our clients’ business. You will have the opportunity to lead and support projects at some of the world’s most state‑of‑the‑art industrial and commercial facilities. You’ll be accountable for budget, schedule, and technical quality of challenging engineering tasks, as you become familiar with the client’s expectations, scope, budget, and schedule.
Your multi‑disciplinary, highly interactive team will successfully deliver on the design, development, application, evaluation, recommendation, and specification of engineered systems and products for building HVAC, utility, plumbing, and fire protection systems and components. You may provide on‑site assistance during startup and coordinate work activities with other design and engineering professionals and project management.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and mentor a medium to large multinational team of designers and engineers.
- Coordinate design and engineering activities for complex HVAC and building systems.
- Ensure project deliverables meet budget, schedule, and technical quality standards.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, clients, and construction teams.
- Assist with startup and on‑site support as needed.
- Provide technical expertise to junior team members and foster their development.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- 15+ years of practical experience in mechanical engineering and design, including HVAC, utilities, fire protection, plumbing, and related mechanical building systems.
- Minimum 5 years of life sciences consulting engineering experience.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to lead large multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong collaboration and effective teamwork across client and construction environments.
- Passion for buildings and construction.
- Proficient with Revit or Smart Plant software.
- Industrial design experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing, semiconductor facilities, or similar.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Forward‑thinking, eager to learn best practices, and contribute innovative ideas.
- Display ability to learn quickly and broaden knowledge base.
