Senior Helpers is seeking a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our team. The COTA will participate in the implementation of the rehabilitative plan of care designed by an Occupational Therapist and physician, working under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist.
Base Pay: $23.00/hr (based on skills and experience).
Job SummaryThe COTA provides patient care in diverse healthcare settings, delivering therapeutic self‑care instructions, creative activities, and exercise programs to improve independence, physical and mental functioning. Responsibilities include documenting care, maintaining confidentiality and HIPAA compliance, communicating effectively, and adhering to state regulations and ATC policies.

Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program at the associate’s degree level.
LicensureCurrent and unrestricted license or registration as an OTA in the state of practice if the state regulates the profession.
ExperienceAt least one year of relevant OTA experience in a clinical setting.
CredentialsCPR certification as required by client facility; health and other screening tests as required by specific facilities and state regulations.
Environmental Working ConditionsVarious client facility settings; possible exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and other potentially infectious materials.
Representative Duties and Responsibilities- Complies with ATC policies and client facility policies.
- Documents accurately and completely.
- Maintains confidentiality relative to patient care and facility practices in accordance with HIPAA.
- Communicates information effectively to appropriate personnel.
- Guides and instructs patients in therapeutic self‑care and activities aligned with the treatment plan.
- Provides patient care in a non‑judgmental, non‑discriminatory manner respecting cultural diversity and age appropriateness.
- Maintains competency by participating in continuing education and meeting state specific requirements.
- Complies with ethical conduct and professional standards of the American Association of Occupational Therapy.
- Performs other duties as assigned and within scope of practice for OTAs.
