SummaryProvides routine clinical and administrative support in an outpatient clinic, working under clinical supervision of providers and general direction of management.
Responsibilities- Performs rooming and intake process, collects data including vital signs, height, weight, and reason for visit.
- Collects patient and family data, including medical and social history.
- Reviews medication list, allergies, preferred pharmacy.
- Assists provider during treatments, examinations, procedures.
- Collects specimens and performs phlebotomy.
- Administers medications under provider direction.
- Performs tests (e.g., EKG, eye exams) under provider direction.
- Reviews patient record to identify routine health screening needs.
- Ensures exam rooms contain supplies, equipment, and educational materials.
- Provides patient instructions and educational materials.
- Prepares, cleans, stocks, maintains exam and treatment rooms.
- Cleans and sterilizes instruments.
- Assists with registration, check‑in/check‑out, appointment scheduling, test scheduling, and referrals.
- Answers clinic telephone and assists in‑basket under provider or nurse direction.
- Assists in emergency situations as directed by provider or nurse.
- Additional essential responsibilities may include mentoring new hires, training others, maintaining preventive health measures, performing clinic quality or safety roles, and managing supply ordering.
None required as long as other qualifications are met. Completion of an accredited Medical Assisting program is strongly preferred but not required.
Licensure/Certification- Medical Assistant certification (AAMA, AMT, CCMA, NRCMA, NCMA).
- Basic Life Support Certification (AHA or ARC).
- At least one year full‑time experience as a Certified Medical Assistant.
- Demonstrated competencies per the Medical Assistant Certified Advancement Worksheet.
- Ability to perform essential functions.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Engages positively with patients, families, and team.
- Computer proficiency for electronic medical record documentation.
