Director Of UX, Product Experience

We’re looking for a leader who will bring authenticity, problem‑solving skills, and a passion for empowering teams to deliver cohesive, scalable experiences across our product ecosystem.

Opportunity

As a Director of User Experience Design, you will shape the experience of Splunk’s products, ensuring they deliver insightful and effortless experiences across jobs, personas, and product lines. You will work closely with Product Management, Engineering, Research, and other design disciplines to define a clear design strategy aligned with business goals while balancing deep UX craft with systems‑level thinking.

Key Considerations
  • Defining and overseeing work on key product experience objectives
  • Allocating resources and assignments across teams and initiatives
  • Managing budgets, staffing, and operational considerations
  • Reviewing, critiquing, and elevating design quality and outcomes
  • Partnering with peers and executive leaders in setting product strategy
Responsibilities
  • Provide hands‑on direction, insight, and coaching at the project and portfolio level
  • Delegate effectively and set clear expectations for your team
  • Build, mentor, and inspire cross‑functional design teams while contributing to broader UX leadership
  • Break down silos and invest in ways to improve shared culture and product experience practice
Qualifications
  • Use objective research and rigorous design process to drive measurable business outcomes
  • Communicate clearly and articulate complex concepts to executive leadership
  • Experience with strategic planning, prioritization, and goal‑setting across functions and business units
  • Lead with confidence, humility, curiosity, and a willingness to learn
  • Thrive in environments undergoing change and turn skepticism into shared momentum
  • Create air cover and space for teams to learn, grow, and do their best work
  • Passion for systems thinking and solving large, cross‑product problems
  • Navigate ambiguity and difficult conversations with multiple stakeholders
  • Operate with integrity and keep customer and organizational impact in mind
  • Adapt leadership style to the situation—knowing when to hold the line or build bridges
  • Evaluate UX maturity and design compatibility in acquisitions or large integrations
  • Build strong, healthy teams while crafting great product experiences
  • Excited by technology and innovation, exploring AI and emerging tech to differentiate our products
Requirements
  • 15+ years of UX design experience in B2B or B2C across regulated industries
  • 10+ years leading large UX research or product design teams at enterprise scale
  • Experience working on class‑leading products in data analytics, observability, network security, incident management, or data visualization
  • Strong body of research‑driven, customer‑centered design work with measurable business impact
  • Ability to run and navigate organizational change and lead through ambiguity
  • Fluency with Figma, Adobe Suite, Miro, and interest in new ways of working
  • Experience with global, asynchronous team coordination
  • Influence and impact product direction as a thoughtful partner
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills at all levels, including executive level
  • M.A/M.S./Ph.D. or equivalent experience in User Experience Design, Human Factors, Graphic Design, Industrial Design, Research, Data Science, or related field
Benefits and Compensation

Starting salary range: $ – $ (U.S. & Canada). No incentive compensation, equity, or benefits listed in range.
