Your impact:
As a Client Account Manager (CAM), you’ll have the opportunity to influence strategic business relationships with key clients, ensuring Jacobs remains their firm of choice while fully leveraging that relationship. You’ll also ensure Jacobs thoroughly understands the client’s needs, challenges, and aspirations.

Job Responsibilities
  • Lead select accounts for municipal and state governments and private clients in the Carolinas, collaborating with delivery teams to sustain existing workload.
  • Serve as the client service point of contact and develop strategies to grow Jacobs’ business across all water sub‑markets in the Carolinas.
  • Work with the Market Growth Director for Water to align the Carolinas Water strategy within the broader Southeast portfolio.
  • Identify, charter, and lead client service teams composed of client service leaders, multi‑disciplinary project managers, and regional practice leaders around a common vision of success.
  • Facilitate the creation of deep, personal, valuable client relationships between Jacobs’ personnel and client personnel (management, technical, functional, delivery) to weave a broad‑based relationship fabric.
  • Advocate on the client’s behalf by actively engaging the firm to address client needs and recommending strategic actions to optimize business development investment and market share growth.
  • Identify higher levels of client engagement for executive sponsors.
  • Secure management commitment and influence key staff for pursuits.
  • Work with office and corporate leaders to develop strategies for key hiring on strategic pursuits, team growth, office growth, profitability, employee development and satisfaction.
  • Actively engage with project and sales teams to influence pursuit team on sales process discipline, win strategy, proposal development, interviews, and presentations.
  • Coordinate and facilitate the sales process, including Go/No Go decisions, and help develop required sales costs aligned with opportunity potential and return on investment objectives.
  • Maintain a demonstrated reputation as a leader in the Carolinas municipal market area.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, Policy, Planning, or a related field.
  • 15 years of experience in the water industry with proven client development skills, including previous experience managing large capital‑improvement projects.
  • Proven track record of creating and winning water program/project work in the Carolinas area.
  • Strong team leadership, consensus building and team‑player skills, with proficiency in technical writing, communication and presentation to clients.
  • Extensive public participation, agency coordination, planning and programming experience.
  • Proven record of developing close relationships with key clients at all levels (executives through management).
  • Multiple professional contacts and connections across the Carolinas, especially throughout counties, cities and other municipalities.
  • Ability to open doors for initiating relationships at client organizations.
  • Ability to lead an account team, set a vision, strategy, coach/mentor and motivate the team, manage commercial and legal negotiations and close deals.
  • Strong background in delivering or managing large water projects/programs is considered a positive and adds credibility in consulting, engineering, construction industry service offerings and delivery.
  • Track record of bringing differentiated solutions to clients and managing budgets while meeting sales goals.
  • High level of emotional intelligence, team building, coaching, and mentoring.
  • Innovative and solutions‑oriented thinker with client political savviness.
