Job Summary

The Toll Sites / 3rd Party Manufacturing Manager oversees outsourced production, acting as the liaison between UPL and its external contract manufacturers to ensure products are made on time, within budget, and to quality standards. Key responsibilities include managing relationships with toll sites, negotiating contracts, monitoring production schedules, ensuring compliance with regulations, and collaborating with internal departments such as quality assurance and supply chain.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage toll sites and 3rd party manufacturing sites: qualify and select contract manufacturers, manage performance, and oversee relationships.
  • Production and scheduling: obtain and review production schedules, highlight issues, and ensure key dates are met.
  • Quality and compliance: ensure manufacturing processes comply with company policies and relevant standards; investigate non‑conformances and track corrective actions.
  • Process optimization: work to improve operational efficiency and cost savings in the outsourced manufacturing process.
  • Project management: lead projects related to technology transfer, new product launches, and product approvals.
  • Performance monitoring: develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure supplier performance.
  • Financial oversight: analyze spend data and proposals to make fact‑based decisions and ensure cost‑effectiveness.
Production and Quality Management
  • Oversee and control the production cycle at toll sites to ensure deadlines, costs, and quality standards are met.
  • Monitor quality control systems to guarantee products meet company and market requirements.
  • Coordinate root cause investigations for non‑conforming products and track corrective/preventive actions.
  • Ensure adherence to contractual agreements and internal policies and procedures.
Supplier & Relationship Management
  • Build and maintain relationships with toll sites, 3rd party manufacturers and suppliers.
  • Develop and monitor KPIs for toll sites and 3rd party manufacturers and review performance regularly.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for toll site projects and ensure timely, accurate information transfer.
  • Manage sub‑tier supplier quality for the external toll sites and 3rd party manufacturers.
Compliance & Safety
  • Ensure facilities and processes comply with all relevant government, environmental and industry regulations (e.g., GMP).
  • Lead reliability, quality and safety programs at the manufacturing sites.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment at the toll sites.
  • Coordinate and participate in external audits at the toll sites.
Cost, Operations & Continuous Improvement
  • Implement cost‑saving measures and improve operational efficiency.
  • Negotiate and manage tolling fees.
  • Analyze production data and prepare performance reports.
  • Support the technology transfer process and manage project implementations.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance processes and capabilities.
Required Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Chemical Engineering or Chemistry.
