Retail Operations Assistant Manager

Summary:

This position is responsible for assisting with leading and directing the daily tactical priorities of Neighbor Up’s retail operations, including donation intake, processing and the sales lifecycle. The Assistant Manager is responsible for leading staff and volunteers assigned to perform shift coverage for functions in the back-of-house, middle-of-house and front-of-house. This is a full-time non-exempt position based on our Cary campus.

This position reports to a Retail Operations Manager of Neighbor Up.

Essential Functions:

Working collaboratively with staff and volunteers to oversee the essential functions of the Dorcas Thrift Shop and/or Dorcas Vintage & Home. Responsible for providing guidance, ensuring compliance with standard operating procedures, and maintaining high standards of quality, timeliness and customer care.

Provide training and mentorship to staff and volunteers.

Essential functions include, but are not limited to overseeing tasks such as cashiering, front door attendance, sales floor recovery, shelf restocking, and processing merchandise in various categories, as well as assisting with donation drop-offs.

Assist with the daily opening and closing procedures for the Dorcas Thrift Shop and/or Dorcas Vintage & Home, including the retail store, drop off area, receiving dock and merchandise processing  proactive in seeking opportunities to enhance the customer experience and provide exceptional service.

Ensure Neighbor Up’s facilities remain tidy, safe and healthy for customers, volunteers and staff; ensure general upkeep of plaza grounds.

Stay up-to-date with any procedural changes and informational updates related to Neighbor Up’s operations that are communicated through email or signage, and assist in disseminating this information to staff and volunteers.

Provide management level coverage for the retail operations when a Retail Operations Manager isn’t available.

Other duties as assigned:

Represent Neighbor Up both inside and outside the organization.

Expand learning and personal skill development through participation in career development training.

Participate fully in Neighbor Up events conducted for staff and volunteers. Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by a Retail Operations Manager or Director of Retail Operations.

Handle highly confidential and sensitive information.

Consistent and predictable attendance is an essential function of the position.

Supervisory Responsibility:

Provide oversight and leadership to any staff and volunteers assigned to Retail Operations.

Foster a climate of collaboration and mutual trust between staff and volunteers.

Education & Experience:

Minimum of High School diploma or equivalent GED program.

Minimum of three (3) years of experience in Retail Sales, Inventory Management or Facilities Management, including one (1) year of experience in a lead role, preferred.
