Exploration Technician Project Scheduler / Planner – Underground Execution
Ivanhoe Electric is advancing the Santa Cruz Copper Project into underground development and execution using an Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) model. Underground contractors and IPD partners develop detailed schedules in Deswik, which must be consolidated, validated, and translated into a coherent execution view within Primavera P6 (PPM). A separate Master Scheduler exists at the project level. This role serves as the underground schedule integrator, ensuring detailed underground development schedules (L4–L6) are execution‑ready, internally consistent, and appropriately escalated for incorporation into the master project schedule.
RolePurpose
The Project Scheduler / Planner is responsible for consolidating, validating, and maintaining underground development schedules at Level 4 through Level 6 detail. The role provides schedule integrity, short‑interval execution visibility, and forward‑looking analysis to Mine Engineering and Construction leadership. Schedule recommendations and scenario analysis flow through the Mine Engineering team to the Director of Construction, who approves outcomes for incorporation into the master schedule.
SpecificResponsibilities / Essential Functions
Underground Execution and Safety Integration
• Ensure underground development schedules reflect realistic sequencing, access constraints, and safety‑critical activities.
• Validate alignment between mine design, development headings, production rates, and execution logic.
• Consolidate contractor and IPD partner underground schedules developed in Deswik into Primavera P6 (PPM).
• Maintain detailed L4–L6 activities, including development headings, cycles, and work fronts.
• Validate logic integrity, calendars, constraints, and coding prior to schedule acceptance.
Progress Measurement and Forecasting
• Administer regular schedule updates, including physical percent complete and short‑interval forecast revisions.
• Compare contractor‑reported progress against Deswik outputs, P6 logic, and field observations.
• Identify schedule risks, logic conflicts, and emerging execution trends impacting underground development.
Look‑Ahead Planning and Reporting
• Produce one‑week and three‑week look‑ahead schedules supporting underground execution.
• Develop underground‑focused dashboards and critical path summaries for Mine Engineering and Construction leadership.
• Highlight impacts to development rates, resource availability, and sequencing.
Interfaces and Decision Support
• Work closely with Mine Engineering to evaluate sequencing options and execution scenarios.
• Provide validated underground schedule inputs to the Master Scheduler for integration into the master project schedule.
• Support the Director of Construction with schedule‑driven analysis for execution decisions.
Systems and Information Management
• Maintain scheduling data in Primavera P6 (PPM) in accordance with project standards.
• Ensure Deswik‑to‑P6 data exchanges are controlled, traceable, and auditable.
• Store and manage schedule files, updates, and reports within SharePoint document control.
• Support future integration with Business Central and other project systems as they are defined.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge, and Experience Required• Strong commitment to underground safety and disciplined execution.
• Minimum 5+ years’ experience scheduling underground mine development activities.
• Demonstrated experience working with Deswik schedules at L4–L6 detail.
• Strong working knowledge of Primavera P6 (PPM) in multi‑contractor environments.
• Ability to interpret mine plans, development designs, and contractor schedules.
• Proven ability to identify flawed logic, unrealistic durations, and execution risk embedded in schedules.
• Background in mining engineering, mine planning, or construction management.
• The capacity to interact with the entire team in a professional context is vital to ensure that all team members are contributing to the maintenance of an accurate and up‑to‑date schedule. One should be prepared to question the status quo or existing ideas when circumstances warrant.
Preferred• Experience in IPD or Owner‑led delivery environments.
• Experience supporting short‑interval control or advanced underground execution planning.
Work Pattern• Site‑based. Day shift at project outset.
• Flexibility to adapt to alternate shifts or expanded coverage as the project organization grows.
