Overview
Radiation Therapist - $10,000 Sign on Bonus.
Location:
Cancer & Blood Specialists of Arizona. Pay range: $33.71 - $66.17 per hour. Join a brand-new, state-of-the-art facility located about 30 minutes south of Phoenix, AZ, as part of American Oncology Network.
The Radiation Therapist (RTT) reports to the Radiation Therapy Lead and provides the technical portion of radiation therapy treatments within the department of Radiation Oncology. The RTT delivers radiation treatments according to written prescriptions and treatment plans while ensuring patient safety and accurate documentation of treatment records. The RTT also supports patient education and collaborates with the radiation oncology team to maintain high standards of care.
Responsibilities- Provide radiation therapy services as an essential member of the radiation oncology treatment team, ensuring total quality care for each patient.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families and other members of the radiation oncology team.
- Respond to emergency situations, provide first aid/CPR, and assist with patient care until a physician or nurse arrives.
- Document accurately and legibly treatment set-ups, doses and calculations; exercise judgment on treatment hold decisions after consultation with the radiation oncologist.
- Explain procedures to patients, communicate during treatment, and provide guidance if emergencies arise during treatment.
- Reinforce patient education on skin care, mouth care, diets and general welfare; support correct procedure and practice for tumor localization and treatment under supervision.
- Perform patient simulations as requested by the physician and document data collected during simulations; input treatment-related data into the EMR.
- Transport patients, review charts, order supplies, and assist in treatment-related procedures as needed.
- Maintain QA/QC checks, monitor equipment, and report deviations or malfunctions to the clinical team.
- Contribute to programs to measure and improve quality of care within the department and support patient education on treatment delivery and side effects.
- Capture and verify patient treatment charges as part of the workflow.
- Minimum – Graduate from an accredited School of Radiation Therapy Technology.
- Preferred – BS Degree in Radiation Therapy Technology or related field.
- Minimum of one (1) year of active experience as a Radiation Therapist required. Recent graduates of an accredited RTT program who are eligible to sit for the registry may be considered; must pass RTT Registry exam prior to starting if recent graduate.
- Certified as a Registered Radiation Therapy Technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists;
Certification as a General Radiographer (ARRT). - Current CPR/BLS certifications.
- Fluency in English with excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to communicate in Spanish desirable.
