The Community Counselor delivers strength-based interventions to build self‑regulation skills and develop positive coping strategies for anger, impulse control, depression, anxiety, stress, conflict resolution, and general self‑management. Services are provided in community, educational, or home‑based settings. The role also includes care coordination, Child and Family Team (CFT) facilitation, and, when needed, facilitation of group counseling sessions.
Job Responsibilities- Provide direct family‑centered clinical services, including individual, family, and group skills‑building interventions to address behavioral challenges, parenting skills, family systems issues, anger management, and substance abuse.
- Prepare written diagnostic assessments from multiple perspectives (family functioning, psychological/emotional, social, academic, medical, behavioral, substance abuse, skills, strengths, barriers to self‑sufficiency, treatment history), using various assessment instruments.
- Facilitate Child and Family Team (CFT) meetings and collaborate with other service providers, system partners, and professionals such as attorneys, school personnel, social workers, and probation officers.
- Interpret and follow treatment plans from other providers when clinically appropriate.
- Respond to crisis situations during the workday as needed.
- Document case activities for clinical and billing purposes in accordance with agency and AHCCCS standards.
- Work with the Clinical Supervisor to increase the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions.
- Perform other duties as assigned or necessary related to the general nature of the position.
- Associate’s degree preferred; high school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum 4 years of direct member care experience in Behavioral Health.
- Own reliable transportation; mileage reimbursement provided.
- Minimum 18 years of age.
- Arizona Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card (must possess upon hire and maintain throughout employment).
- CPR, First Aid & AED certification if required (must possess upon hire and maintain throughout employment).
- Valid Driver’s License, 39‑month Motor Vehicle Report, proof of vehicle registration and liability insurance that meet company insurance requirements, if required.
- Negative TB test result if required (Employer provides).
