As a Lead Crisis Specialist, you will be the primary clinical team member for crisis intervention within the community for all age groups, provide support with training of crisis staff, and intervene to alleviate participants’ immediate social, emotional, or environmental crisis. You will assess, evaluate, triage, and refer participants for appropriate follow‑up treatment to support a return to an effective lifestyle and may provide outreach and engagement to outpatient clients as needed.
This position is a safety‑sensitive role that includes tasks that could affect safety, health, or reputation. It requires driving and other duties per agency standards.
Schedule:
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 9 AM – 7 PM.
- Coordinate and facilitate essential training for new crisis department employees.
- Review and provide constructive feedback on required paperwork for departmental staff.
- Coordinate and facilitate clinical training and act as a resource for staff.
- Respond to any crisis call in person within required time frames.
- Participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of crisis services.
- Use community and agency resources responsibly and knowledgeably.
- Work nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime when needed.
- Attend mandatory staff meetings and required trainings.
- Keep clear, concise, and accurate records of clinical activity per policy.
- Coordinate and/or follow‑up services for participants after initial contact.
- Provide outreach and engagement to outpatient clients as needed.
- Meet regularly with the Department Coordinator and other clinical staff for case problem solving.
- Assist with on‑the‑job orientation and training of new staff members when needed.
- Establish and maintain working relationships with referral resources including the court system and law enforcement.
- Engage in the comprehensive court process for participants, including preparation and transport of necessary documents and testimony as required.
- Maintain good attendance, reliability, and punctuality.
- Prioritize workload effectively.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the crisis program coordinator.

- Minimum of a high school diploma/GED with four years of behavioral health experience or a bachelor’s degree in a behavioral health related field. Experience equivalency is considered if education and experience meet qualifications as a Behavioral Health Technician (BHT).
- At least 21 years of age.
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record; no serious traffic violations or more than two violations in the prior 39 months. Must be trained in crisis intervention and have provided services to agency participants and residents in the community.
- Ability to provide appropriate referrals and placements within the treatment continuum.
- Demonstrated ability to provide counseling/case management to SMI participants within the Mental Health program.
- Knowledge of special populations such as substance abuse.
- Ability to develop treatment plans and summaries based on participant needs.
- Ability to distinguish between alcohol and drug‑related symptoms and other pre‑existing physical problems.
