UTILITY WORKER IIJob Summary
Under the supervision of the Division Manager, Operations Superintendent, Foreman and Utility Worker ("UW") III and UW IV, the UW II must demonstrate a proficiency in communicating with the general public, Company employees, supervisors, and others. The UW II must demonstrate the ability to prepare legible, clear, concise, and complete written reports, map postings, changing meters, and assisting UW III and UW IV.
The UW II must be certified in Arizona Department of Environmental Quality Grade 1 Water Distribution. The UW II must be able to work outdoors in all occasions. The UW II must understand and communicate information related to customer service, maintain proper conduct, and present a positive image of the Company. Be available to work overtime in emergency as well as planned job assignments.
- This is an entry-level position.
- Under general direction and UW III and UW IV will assist with the general maintenance of the water distribution system including, but not limited to, meter change-outs, water main and water service repair/replacement, and water storage tank maintenance.
- Works independently on general property maintenance (painting, cleaning, sorting, etc.), customer notifications, 1-inch and smaller meter change-outs, and other work not requiring continuing direction or supervision.
- Performs other duties as assigned or as directed by supervisors.
Education and Experience
- Must be a high school graduate with strong mechanical/pipe fitting/construction aptitude.
- Pipe fitting or construction experience preferred, but not required.
- Must have a valid, appropriate Arizona driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Must have a valid Arizona Department of Environmental Quality Grade 1 Water Distribution Operator Certification.
- Hand tools, power tools, compaction and other equipment related to water distribution system maintenance may be used.
- May operate a Company vehicle.
- Must be physically able to perform job duties that may require walking, bending, kneeling, digging and lifting items of at least seventy-five (75) pounds in weight.
- Must be able to work outside in all types of weather.
