Summer Recreation

City of Casa Grande Summer Recreation Jobs

These positions will be filled during the summer season for a series of recreational programs. Rate of pay will depend on experience. Applications will be reviewed at the end of each month and interviews will be held as needed.

• Casa Grande Youth Theater – A six‑week program beginning in June for youth ages 8‑17. The program runs Monday‑Thursday and covers all aspects of play production, culminating in a performance. Staff hours are typically 20‑25 hours per week.
• Kindergym – A four‑week program beginning in June for children ages 3‑6. Sessions run Monday‑Thursday from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm and include basic movement, gymnastics skills, tumbling, coordination and motor skill development. Staff hours are 15‑20 hours per week.
• Science Programs – A four‑week program beginning in June for youth ages 4‑13. The program takes place throughout the week with varying days/times and focuses on small science experiments and volcano building. Staff hours are 10‑15 hours per week.
• Start Smart – A four‑session program starting in June for ages 3‑5. Sessions occur Monday‑Thursday and introduce each session to a different sport:
  Soccer, Basketball, Football and Basketball. Staff hours are 10‑15 hours per week.
• Sports Camps – A seven‑week program beginning in June for youth ages 5‑11. Runs Monday‑Thursday from 8:00 am to 9:30 am with themed sports including baseball, basketball, football, soccer, volleyball and pickleball. Staff hours are 10‑15 hours per week.

• Assist in organizing and conducting recreational activities, promoting interest and participation.
• Work directly with the instructor and assist as needed; issue and collect games, arts and crafts supplies, equipment, etc.
• Teach basic skills of games, maintain order, keep score, set up activity areas, and clean and secure spaces when finished.

• Demonstrated experience in Parks and Recreation activities and ability to assist with organized recreational programs.

• Develop and administer a comprehensive recreational program in the instructor’s area of expertise.
• Ensure program objectives are achieved, exercising independent judgment and ingenuity to meet participant needs.
• Supervise and direct the class or activity and all recreation staff, ensuring maximum instruction for all participants.
• Outline program goals, develop weekly lesson plans, and maintain efficient conduct of recreation activities in accordance with departmental policies.

• Extensive knowledge and experience in recreational class and/or program development.
• Ability to plan, organize, coordinate, and direct activities and personnel for a well‑rounded recreational program.
• Comfortable working with children and communicating with adults.
• Some supervisory experience required; knowledge of first aid and safety precautions preferred.

This is a part‑time, temporary, or seasonal position; no benefits are offered.
