Position: Casper Mountain Science Program Teacher on Special Assignment

This position is 1.0 FTE.

The salary posted is for a full academic year (185 days). The salary for the 2025-26 school year will be prorated based on start date.

Purpose Statement

The job of Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA) is done for the purpose/s of providing support to the school specific and/or district program specific initiatives and measured outcomes; providing support to the instructional process; developing professional development and delivering group and individual staff instruction; collaborating with other teachers, other professional staff, and administrators in addressing instructional and/or classroom issues; and responding to a wide range of inquiries from administrators or staff regarding instructional programs and initiatives.

This job reports to the Administrator

Essential Functions
  • Assists teachers (e.g. accessing, understanding, and using data to guide instruction; using differentiated instructional planning, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring achievement of desired professional performance outcomes and integrating higher level thinking, engagement, authenticity, and use of technology.
  • Coaches teachers (e.g. collecting classroom behavior data such as time on task, opportunities to respond, positive/negative ratio to interaction, and disruptions; modeling trust‑building behaviors, etc.) for the purpose of discussion for interpretation and use of data.
  • Collaborates with all stakeholders (e.g. students, parents, colleagues, etc.) for the purpose of establishing and maintaining leadership and positive relationships while focusing on high expectations and continuous improvement for student learning.
  • Collaborates with teachers (e.g. exploring open‑ended questioning for student learning, using reflective dialogue for development of critical thinking, reflecting upon and enhancing the learning environment, etc.) for the purpose of providing interactive exploration of tools for improved instruction and student learning.
  • Coordinates in cooperation with the District administrator and/or principal the collecting, reporting, and storing of data for the purpose of using evidence‑based decisions for program evaluation and school improvement.
  • Coordinates with district building administrators, a variety of committees, and/or local and/or state agencies, etc. for the purpose of serving as a liaison and resource, identifying varied needs and services.
  • Designs processes specific to programmatic needs and measured outcomes for the purpose of collecting, reporting, and monitoring initiatives.
  • Engages instructors (e.g. collaborative conversations for enhancing learning environment, demonstrating trust‑building behaviors, creating a collaborative culture of coaching, modeling meaningful feedback, etc.) for the purpose of implementing processes for professional development initiative, goals and priorities.
  • Facilitates meetings, workshops, trainings, and seminars for the purpose of conveying materials and processes for implementation of improved student learning outcomes.
  • Fosters collaborative relationships with varied stakeholders (e.g. professional development mentoring, interpersonal relationships mentoring, etc.) for the purpose of enhancing collegial relationships to promote school improvement.
  • Maintains a variety of variety of instructional resources (e.g. management strategies, data analysis, critical thinking instructional methods, etc.) for the purpose of providing resources for implementing research‑based instructional strategies, while complying with regulatory requirements and established guidelines.
  • Researches a variety of information (e.g. courses, materials, team building, professional development trends, etc.) for the purpose of providing optimal resources for instructors.
  • Supports District and School Improvement initiatives for the purpose of implementing priorities and goals.
  • Supports teachers (e.g. accessing, understanding and using data to guide instruction; using data for summative assessments to guide instruction, developing rubrics, etc.) for the purpose of implementing management strategies that develop safe, productive, engaging learning environments.
  • Sustains a collaborative culture of coaching (e.g. leading professional development processes, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring achievement of improved instruction, and improved student learning.
Other Functions
  • Performs other related duties, as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
Education

Bachelors degree in job-related area.

Equivalency

Equivalency strong background in instructional strategies, content related school improvement planning, leadership is necessary. Master's Degree is preferred.

Certification

Wyoming Professional Teaching Standards Board Certification
