Overview

Phlebotomy Apprentice at Sonora Quest Laboratories / Laboratory Sciences of Arizona, located in Casper, Wyoming. This full‑time evening position is a technical skill‑based apprenticeship offering on‑the‑job training in phlebotomy.

Position Summary

The Phlebotomy Apprentice collects high‑quality blood samples, prepares specimens for lab testing, and assists teams in patient service centers, hospitals, or doctor’s offices during peak hours. The role requires direct patient contact, ensuring clear communication, patient comfort, and adherence to processes and regulatory standards.

Core Functions
  • Collect specimens and perform general or referral laboratory processing as needed, ensuring correct patient identification and specimen integrity.
  • Verify patient demographics, requisition data, and clinical information, and ensure accurate entry into the system.
  • Accurately label, aliquot, and submit specimens to the technical area, performing triage in patient service centers when required.
  • Maintain high quality standards by completing documents legibly, following departmental procedures, and supporting quality‑assurance monitoring.
  • Use supplies efficiently, support cost‑reduction initiatives, and maintain familiarity with billing basics.
  • Provide exceptional customer service with compassion, empathy, and professionalism, resolving basic service issues and fostering teamwork.
  • Adhere to patient rights and privacy regulations (HIPAA) while supporting the mission and values of Laboratory Sciences of Arizona.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Minimum age 18; high‑school graduate or GED equivalent.
  • Good reading, writing, math, and organizational skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Must obtain or already possess ADHS fingerprinting certification.
  • Strong customer‑service or patient‑service abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bilingual Spanish/English.
  • Customer‑service experience in a retail or service environment.
  • Keyboard/data‑entry experience.
  • Additional related education or experience.
