Job SummaryThe Environmental and Corporate Counsel is an attorney with strong environmental law experience who also functions as general counsel for a rapidly scaling industrial technology company. This role supports DISA’s uranium remediation, mineral processing, and federal Tribal partnerships while providing day-to-day legal oversight on contracts (MSAs), NDAs, commercial agreements, and coordination with external counsel. They advise on environmental and regulatory frameworks, manage legal risk, and support corporate governance and strategic transactions.
The successful candidate will thrive in a dynamic start-up environment, wearing multiple hats and contributing to many areas of business development.
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree with admission to a U.S. state bar with the ability to obtain a WY or CO state bar admission.
- 10+ years of legal experience, including significant exposure to environmental law.
- Experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial agreements.
- Experience working with CERCLA, RCRA, AEA, NRC regulations, state mining and radiation frameworks, and related compliance obligations.

TypicalJob Duties and Responsibilities
- Advise leadership on CERCLA, AEA, NRC licensing, state mining and radiation regulations, and federal–Tribal frameworks.
- Support ongoing AUM remediation strategy, regulatory positioning, and compliance.
- Assist with preparation and review of NRC, EPA, or state regulatory submissions.
- Track evolving federal and state regulatory developments that impact uranium recovery, waste handling, and mineral processing operations.
- Help assess environmental liabilities associated with site acquisitions, partnerships, and AUM transactions.
- Serve as the primary internal legal resource for commercial contracts, NDAs, vendor agreements, service contracts, term sheets, and MOUs.
- Manage workflow between DISA and external counsel across environmental, transactional, corporate, IP, and employment matters.
- Develop and maintain standard templates, contracting processes, and internal legal policies.
- Support corporate governance matters, including board materials, resolutions, and investor documentation.
- Assist with due diligence and document review for financings, site acquisitions, or strategic partnerships.
- Identify regulatory and contractual risks and propose practical, business-oriented solutions.
- Support development of compliance systems related to safety, environmental obligations, and reporting.
- Work with operations to ensure proper legal documentation is in place for field activities, vendors, and partners.
- Support policy and government-relations efforts with clear legal interpretation and strategic framing.
- Abide by all policies and procedures established by DISA.
- Attend and participate in all required safety trainings.
- Assist with any task required by the direct supervisor.
- Strong working knowledge of environmental regulatory frameworks relevant to uranium, mining, and industrial operations.
- Proven experience drafting and negotiating a wide range of commercial agreements.
- Ability to manage outside counsel efficiently and cost-effectively.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate legal concepts into clear operational guidance.
