Responsibilities- Provide bakery department service and decorate bakery items per customer requests using proper equipment.
- Prepare bakery items per customer requests and ensure correct portion sizes to prevent shrink.
- Decorate cakes, pastries, cupcakes, cookies and other bakery items; prepare foods according to recipes and cooking instructions.
- Offer product samples, answer questions about products, and suggest items to customers.
- Maintain knowledge of products sold within the department; respond to customer questions and provide recommendations.
- Use bakery equipment (refrigerators, freezers, ovens) according to company guidelines.
- Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers and maintain temperature logs.
- Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines and reinforce safety programs.
- Prepare, package, label and inventory ingredients; check product quality and review sell-by dates.
- Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager; maintain inventory accuracy.
- Stay current with ads, promotions and seasonal items; understand store layout to locate products for customers.
- Maintain a positive attitude and provide excellent customer service.
- Perform essential job duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to handle stressful situations
- Effective communication skills
- Knowledge of basic math
- Current food handler’s permit once employed
- Bakery/Cake decorating experience
- Retail experience
- Second language: speaking, reading and/or writing
- Promote trust and respect among associates
- Provide welcoming and helpful service to customers, answering questions about products
- Gain and maintain knowledge of products and respond to customer questions
- Offer samples and explain bakery specials
- Ensure fresh products and proper portions for customer orders
- Recommend bakery items to meet customer needs
- Properly use all kitchen equipment and follow safety guidelines
- Decorate bakery items and manage labeling and stocking
- Report safety or quality issues to management
- Maintain inventory accuracy and monitor stock conditions
