Shift Leader pay
: starts from £14.76 per hour; increases to £15.97 for stores inside the M25. Additional payments may apply depending on location.

It’s policy to offer new colleagues a minimum of 16 guaranteed hours per week. If you’d like to work fewer hours (to a minimum of 12), opportunities are available and we would love to hear from you.

The availability window shows the periods during the week we’d like you to be available. We will schedule contracted hours within these times and provide 3 weeks’ notice of shifts. We support flexibility, so if your availability matches closely but not exactly, we’d still love to hear from you.

As a Shift Leader, you will support store operations and help run the shop floor to ensure a positive customer experience. You’ll oversee the store, face challenges, and strive to improve outcomes for customers, colleagues and communities every day.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a fast-paced retail environment with variety
  • Take ownership of running duty shifts and coordinate the team to deliver a clean, well-stocked store
  • Assist customers and ensure they leave with what they came for
  • Provide coaching and feedback to the team to improve service
  • Guide and support colleagues to maintain a safe store and work environment
  • Understand store performance and assist managers in actions to improve operations
  • Lead from the front and set a positive example

You will be responsible for

  • Coordinating the store team to deliver an easy, fuss-free shopping experience
  • Supporting colleagues to deliver daily priorities and breaks
  • Opening and closing the store and completing duty cover with safety in mind
  • Being the go-to person in the absence of a manager for day-to-day queries
  • Keeping the store clean, tidy and well-presented
  • Supporting managers with seasonal, community and charity events
  • Contributing to a great, inclusive team atmosphere
  • Providing excellent customer service and listening to customers
  • Keeping the team informed of communications and updates
  • Staying knowledgeable about store performance and seeking improvements
  • Coordinating store improvements and removing obstacles to great service
  • Following health and safety routines and ensuring colleagues do the same
  • Recognising and celebrating colleagues who provide great service
