Ludwig Drilling LLC provides foundation drilling and ground stabilization solutions to the Rocky Mountain and Desert Southwest regions of the US, including:
Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico, Montana, South Dakota, North Dakota, Utah, Wyoming, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, and Texas.

Status: Hourly (Non-Exempt)/At-Will

Rate of Compensation: $28.00 to $32.00 per hour, negotiable based on applicable skillset and experience.

Supervisor: Superintendent

Purpose

· This position will be responsible for project-based drilling operations in the field for Ludwig Drilling LLC. The position will communicate with the field operations team to ensure effective and efficient operation of the drill is maintained. The position will direct other field operatives on site under the direction of the Superintendent.

Responsibilities
  • Manages and directs the daily activities of the drill/rig crew, in accordance with blueprints and designated plans.
  • Operates the drilling unit in accordance with safe and acceptable practices.
  • Inspect drilling unit and ensure compliance with all safety/regulatory requirements.
  • Performs critical care and service to the machine after each use and each day.
  • Adheres to all manufacturer provided safety operational procedures and industry safety standards.
  • Directs workers to erect, dismantle, and move drilling rigs, and drilling crews in the preparation, set up, and operation of all drilling-related equipment.
  • Plans delivery of drilling tools, fuel, water, and other supplies for use at drill site.
  • Maintains knowledge of and orders drilling bits to be used, according to the type of strata encountered.
  • Perform all recordkeeping requirements and submit to appropriate company personnel.
  • Conducts meetings with drill/rig crews to communicate daily objectives, special instructions, safety precautions and training activities as required.
  • Actively lead and participate in safety discussions, toolbox talks, and inspections.
  • Report all incidents, injuries, near misses to crew members and safety personnel.
  • Review all Operational/Maintenance bulletins, communicate pertinent points to crew members and implement all directives as required.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations of personnel.
  • All other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
Experience
  • Construction/Drilling 5 years
  • Drilling 3 years (Required)
  • Micropiling 1 year (Preferred)
    Soil Stabilization 1 year (Preferred)
  • Grouting 1 year (Preferred)
Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to read and understand maps, drawings and diagrams for project build process.
  • Ability to clearly communicate with supervisors and co-workers.
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment.
  • Ability to learn and gain knowledge.
  • Ability to follow work orders or receive instructions.
  • Ability to work independently and establish priorities is required.
  • Ability to work for extended periods of time in adverse weather conditions.
  • Ability to work as part of a crew and to follow work orders or receive instructions.
  • Ability to focus on daily and weekly goals for the project.
  • Ability to work in compliance with applicable OSHA and Company safety requirements.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to work or visit within areas where it is required.
  • PPE includes but is not limited to: hard hat, task specific safety glasses, life vest, respirators, task specific hearing protection, task specific safety shoes (steel toe or metatarsal), and /or other protective equipment as required by the work performed and may change based on the location in which the work is being completed.
  • Ability to walk, step, climb, and otherwise move from one location on the job site to another.
  • Depending on equipment in use, the chosen candidate must be able to physically get into and get out of equipment through the use of vertical mounted ladders up to and including 10’ or more in height.
  • Ability to visually see worksite environment and observe equipment operations (either naturally or with corrective lenses).
  • Ability to stand, stoop, kneel, squat, climb, and sit for long periods of time.
